Tirana celebrated the 70th anniversary of Israel Independence by planting 70 new trees on Thursday as Mayor Veliaj met Israel’s Ambassador in Tirana, Boaz Rodkin, and Blerina Gjylametaj, head of the Israel-Albanian friendship parliamentary group.
The Municipality of Tirana and the Isreal Embassy in Tirana planted 70 new trees to mark the 70th anniversary of Israel’s Independence. The Mayor of Tirana Erjon Veliaj said that the people of Israel are an example that a success story can be achieved even in a desert land and that Albanians can learn from that. ‘When people come together, everything is possible’ said Veliaj who also commented on the recommendation given by the EC considering it as sign of encouragement and the beginning of a new stage of integration for Albania. ‘If we work together we may work wonders’, Veliaj said.
The Municipality of Tirana also released a press statement saying that Tirana will cooperate on Innovation and Agriculture with Jerusalem and other Israeli cities.
