President of the Republic, Ilir Meta declared that tolerance, as well as ethnic, religious and cultural cohabitation in the Balkans is vital to move forward peace, stability and regional harmony.
This declaration was made during President Meta’s speech this Friday at Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy, during his official visit in Israel.
Moreover, Meta was received in this meeting by President of Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, Uriel Reichman; by Dean of Lauder School, Assaf Moghadam; by Director of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), Avital Leibovich; as well as pedagogical staff and students. Meanwhile, he held a speech with the topic: “Unique example of Albania on saving the life of Jewish people during World War II and the religious cohabitation in Albania as a peace example.”
“It is a great pleasure to visit Israel and I am honored to be invited to the Fifth World Forum on the Holocaust. The message is clear as the world commemorates the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz: Anti-Semitism has no place in our world!
I feel proud to be the head of a state where Anti-Semitism never existed, but also of a country that protected thousands of Jewish lives during their darkest historical period in the twentieth century.
Albania and the State of Israel enjoy excellent relations and cooperation, but the bond between our peoples is more significant than any official bond,” said the President among other things.
