Albanian Presidency of the OSCE – High Level Conference “On the Fight against Anti-Semitism in the OSCE Region”
The Albanian Presidency of the OSCE is holding in Tirana the High Level Conference, “On the Fight against Anti-Semitism in the OSCE Region”. Israel was represented at the conference by Mr. Ran Yaakoby, Director of the Directorate for Combating Anti-Semitism and the Promotion of the Holocaust Memory
The Albanian Presidency of the OSCE is holding in Tirana the High Level Conference, “On the Fight against Anti-Semitism in the OSCE Region” with official delegations from OSCE participating States, representatives of international organizations and civil society, etc.
“This conference is a call to be vigilant,” the Prime Minister and Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Edi Rama, said in the video welcoming message. He addressed a concrete call to the participating countries to act together with civil society to face the challenges of anti-Semitism in the OSCE region. “Anti-Semitism, Rama said, is like a virus and like all diseases can be cured only if it is carried out an accurate diagnosis ”.
The Albanian contribution to the rescue of Jews during World War II, according to the inalienable value of Albanian society, tolerance and excellent religious coexistence, has been part of the conference’s attention.
The high level conference, which marks the first activity of this kind of Albanian Presidency, provided an opportunity to dialogue and discuss among participants on current challenges and good practices related to the fight against anti-Semitism, while also exploring opportunities for interaction between OSCE participating States to promote tolerance and non-discrimination.
