The first direct air route from between Albania and Israel could be a few months away from beginning non-stop flights. The Embassy of Albania in Israel confirmed that the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and Foreign Ministry of Israel conducted diplomatic consultations by the end of 2017. Among others, sides agreed for the establishment of a direct flight route between both countries.
Based on a statement that Deputy Foreign Minister Etjen Xhafaj gave for the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, the new route is expected to be cleared for takeoff in April.
Yet, the Embassy added that there are some details that still need to be confirmed. The new route will appeal to Israeli travelers and tourists.
In the meantime, sides also agreed to sign in Tirana during the first half of 2018 an agreement to avoid double taxation. This is expected to create new cooperation opportunities in the tourism and economic sectors. Discussions also focused on possible cooperation and investments in other fields such as information technology and agriculture.
